On Feb 28, 2009, teacher Jordi Fanals and high school students Gerard Marull, Martà Gasull, Jaume Puigmiquel and Sergi Saballs from the IES La Bisbal school in Catalonia, Spain launched a high-altitude probe with digital camera they designed and built. It rose nearly 19 miles before the helium balloon that carried it burst and it fell back to earth. They were able to recover the camera’s flash card and got some really cool pictures.
